Wells of Hope is a Canadian charitable organization that works to improve the lives of people in rural Guatemala by providing access to clean water through drilling wells. This organization also contributes to sustainable community development by building schools and water irrigation systems, teaching English, providing sewing classes to women and medical and dental assistance to those in need.

Wells of Hope was developed by Ted van der Zalm, a Canadian who has been committed to providing clean water to remote communities through his early work in Africa and currently in Guatemala. Each year, Ted and his family drive from Canada to Guatemala where they spend six months of the dry season fulfilling their mission of bringing clean water and support to Guatemalan communities. working on the streets and receive individual care and support.

Planeterra Donation Breakdown
2007: Through our annual Planeterra skydive for charity event we raised $3,000 for Wells of Hope which contributed to their overall goals and objectives. In 2007, Wells of Hope successfully built seven schools and drilled 17 wells providing water to over 30,000 people.

2006: $9,543 - A total of $2,970 was donated to Wells of Hope on behalf of travellers that participated in G.A.P's Project Guatemala tour in March 2006. The remaining $6,573 was raised through Planeterra fundraising events.
