Basecamp Sale’s Team Supports Hope Africa

Planeterra and G Adventures have launched a new fundraising platform where G Adventure’s passengers are able to make a small donation of $3 with the booking of their trip to support a project chosen by our Basecamp Sales Team.  Our Sales Team have chosen to support Hope Africa Children’s Day School and will raise $5000.00 that will go towards building a new washroom and kitchen, both items of urgent need, for the school.

The Hope Africa Children’s Day school is a pre-school located just outside of Kruger National Park.  In a region so heavily ventured by travellers, money in the region is not reaching local communities such as the tribal Mnisi community located in Shalati Village.  This school accommodates over 80 children under the age of 5 and provides them with lessons in both English and Tsonga.

There is currently only one washroom that is used among all 80 students at the school.  The funds generated through this fundraiser will build a new washroom facility that will be able to accommodate up to 100 students.  The current kitchen that is used to prepare meals for the students of Hope Africa is an outdoor, open-fire pit.  The problem with this is that meal preparation is highly dependent on weather conditions, and during times of heavy rain or wind, cooking is not possible.  Our Basecamp Sales Team will also raise funds to construct an indoor kitchen with proper equipment to serve all students and teachers.

The team has chosen this project as they are: “in the business of changing people’s lives!! Through education we are ensuring the development of the children and the growth of the community.”

Two of our team members this year visited the school just outside of Kruger National Park and had a chance to connect with so many wonderful children. They are happy to support this school and community, and they cannot wait for the major additions to Hope Africa Children’s Day School.
