Note: Cash & cheques will be accepted. Cheques should be made out to the “Planeterra Foundation”.

Leave nothing but footprints

We will be providing garbage bags to those who wish to make the extra effort by helping to collect any garbage found along the way.

Where does your money go?

100% of the money raised in pledges will go directly to help support House of the People of the Sun, a drop-in center for street children in Cuzco, Peru which acts as a haven for 75 children and adolescents who live in extreme poverty. The home is open during the day and is run by a staff of volunteer teachers and social workers. Children are given the opportunity to voluntarily drop-in to receive help with homework, a warm meal and participate in classes and workshops that teach them valuable skills including jewelry making, leather working, sewing, cooking, music and English. Our goal is to purchase a permanent home to provide long term security and support for more children in Peru.

The $35 event fee covers the costs of putting on such an event including refreshments and St. John’s Ambulance safety and medical staff. We aim to find sponsors that will cover all of our event costs and companies to donate great prizes, in which case all registration fees would go directly to our project in Peru.

What to bring?

  • Good walking shoes or hiking boots
  • Comfortable clothing

Can I bring my children?

Children 12 and under are FREE but feel free to encourage your kids to collect pledges from friends, family and classmates for their chance to win great prizes and to support children in another part of the world.
