Journal Entry #7: new finished stoves!

Today were able to finish our first 2 stoves.  I was amazed at how fast our new maestros got them done and it still amazes me that in just two visits we could completely change a family's life, improve their health and their living conditions. Such a rewarding feeling and everyone was so happy.  Of course both families greeted us with giant plates of food which means I had 3 lunches today!

To the right are a few pics of the stoves at the end of today. Now they just have to dry and each family will do the finishing touches of making it look pretty on their own.

Pictured here are Victor & Ijidia with their brand new stove in their new kitchen. They were so happy.  Also, see that little open space at the front of the stove -  they improvised that in the design as that is where they want to keep their little chicks to keep them warm.  So cute.

The next picture is the second stove in Victor's (the president of the community) house.  You can't see it in the picture but on the side of the stove we inserted a metal box which they will use as their oven to cook guinea pig.

Also, you can see here how black the walls are from their old stove!!
