Bal Prakash Children's Center
Location: Ajmer, India Bal Prakash is a program that helps at-risk children in Ajmer, India. There are over 82 students, ages 8-16. This centre is aimed at providing the children with an education, and the skills needed to help them develop into self-sufficient adults with a bright future. In addition to classroom blocks, which double as sleeping areas at night, the school has a large garden where the children learn how to grow their own vegetables and fruit trees, and the produce is incorporated into daily meals. The children also care for animals that live on the grounds.
Why is this project needed?Bal Prakash cares for children who lack any sort of support system. Without this program, many of them would not receive any form of an education, and would face real challenges in acquiring the skills needed to learn to care for themselves. Bal Prakash aims to provide children with vocational training and education that will provide them with alternatives to child labor.
