Planeterra's range of projects throughout the world encompasses health programs, micro-enterprise development, social programs, education initiatives, environmental conservation, and community infrastructure improvements.
All projects have the central goal of helping local people achieve a sustainable way of life in an environmentally sensitive manner.

Kenya Community Tourism Project Location: Kowour Village, Kenya This cross-cultural experience enables travellers to take part in the daily lives of the villagers, and gain a deeper understanding of life in rural Kenya while providing economic benefit to over 20 families. |

Limuru Children's Center Location: Limuru, Kenya This centre provides many abused, abandoned, poor and sick children with the basic necessities of life, as well as creating a caring environment to help them reach their full potential. |

Mpanga Primary School Location: Lushoto, Tanzania By working with the local community to improve the school and its environment, we hope to provide more students with an opportunity to continue their education and benefit from community-based tourism. |

Mwandi Community Farm Location: Livingstone, Zambia The Mwandi community has been granted a plot of land by the government that is being developed into a farm to provide food for the local home-based care initiative. |

Red Hill Pre-School Location: Cape Town, South Africa Through this initiative, children in the poverty-stricken Red Hill Township are able to attend school 5 days a week and are provided with two meals each day and educational activities. |

Shalati Pre-School Location: Mnisi, South Africa The Shalati Pre-School aims to provide children, many of whom are orphaned or unable to afford tuition, with the opportunity to begin their education, and become involved in organized activities during their formative years. |

Polar Bear Research Location: Svalbard, Arctic Developed out of worldwide concern for the polar bears population, this scientific research project was developed to identify the effects of exposure to pollutants and climate change on the health of polar bears in the Arctic. |

Save the Albatross Location: South Georgia, Antarctica This program focuses on conservation of albatross species through research on trends in threatened populations, interactions between albatrosses and fisheries, and the development of sea-bird safe fishing practices in the Southern Ocean. |

Bal Prakash Children's Center Location: Ajmer, India Bal Prakash is a program that helps at-risk children in Ajmer, India. This centre is aimed at providing the children with an education, and the skills needed to help them develop into self-sufficient adults with a bright future. |

New Delhi Streetkids Project Location: New Delhi, India Give a child who once lived and worked on the streets of Delhi the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. Your support will provide scholarships with vocational training in trade schools, universities and jobs placements based on the area each child’s individual interest. |

STA Travel Thailand Project Location: Koh Phra Thong, Thailand Provide Thai communities in Tsunami-affected areas in Southern Thailand the opportunity to build and develop a community tourism training centre for homestay and ecotourism training programs, children's environmental education, women's handicraft development, and environmental conservation programs. |

Tibet Eye Camp Location: Tibet Tibet has one of the highest rates of blindness in the world. Each year we sponsor a microsurgical eye camp in a rural region of Tibet and have helped restore sight to hundreds of people with a simple 15-minute cataract surgery. |

Bolivia Health Program Location: Sucre, Bolivia This five-year initiative will help reduce Bolivia’s under-five mortality rate by providing outreach services to 846 communities, and improving children’s healthcare in local health clinics. |

Brazil Community Reforestation Program Location: Sao Paulo State, Brazil This program is providing once landless people and local community groups with the skills to grow their own food and reforest their lands. Through access to training workshops and seedlings, this program will result in increased food production, create natural barriers on their lands and provide shade and fodder for livestock and other animals. |

Brazil Favela Project Location: Rio De Janeiro, Brazil Located in the midst of the world’s biggest shantytown, on the high slopes surrounding Rio de Janeiro is a community-run centre where over 50 children are provided with educational activities, nutritious meals and health care. |

Cuba Schoolyard Project Location: Trinidad & Baracoa, Cuba We give elementary school students the opportunity to create a natural green space on their school grounds where they decide what to incorporate into their green space including native plants, fruit trees, organic vegetables, medicinal plants and composting. |

Cuzco Kids Project Location: Cuzco, Peru Once considered the heart of the Inca Empire, Cuzco is now a tourism Mecca where you will see children either working or begging on the streets. We have purchased a permanent home that will give these children the opportunity to learn valuable skills, break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future. Guatemala Scholarship Fund Location: Antigua, Guatemala We improve the lives of children who come from poor coffee growing families by providing meaningful educational opportunities. By contributing to our tourism scholarship fund you can help youth in Guatemala gain the skills and confidence needed to work in tourism and to increase their self-sufficiency. |

Peru Women's Weaving Co-op Location: Sacred Valley, Peru Despite close vicinity to Cuzco and Machu Picchu, very few communities from the surrounding countryside benefit from tourism. Your support will help improve lives in this community of women weavers and Inca Trail Porters by giving them the opportunity to benefit from tourism and to provide for themselves and their families. |

Rio Muchacho Environmental School Location: Bahia, Ecuador The only school of its kind in Ecuador, this school prepares children for future employment and teaches them how to responsibly manage the natural resources that they will be entrusted with.
