Asia

Asia, the world’s most populous continent, is made up of nearly 50 different countries, and a landscape that is as diverse as its people. From the mountains that make up the Himalayas, to the jungles of Borneo, to the beaches of Thailand and Indonesia, Asia has been luring travellers for centuries. It is well known for its ancient temples and the rise and fall of many kingdoms throughout its long history.

Modern Asia is made up of contrasts, with bustling, crowded cities and remote, pastoral countryside speckled with small communities. People in both urban and rural areas face environmental and social challenges. Due to its vast population, many of Asia’s natural resources are under great strain. There are economic disparities and unequal access to basic health care and education for the people of many of its nations.

In response to these issues, Planeterra is working with local, grassroots organizations to help strengthen health and education systems, and develop community-based tourism initiatives that will benefit communities throughout Asia.
