Antarctica and the Arctic

The polar regions of the Arctic and Antarctica are considered to be two of the most remarkable places on earth. With their relatively isolated locations and rugged landscapes of ice fields, glaciers and icebergs, these areas are known for their spectacular wilderness.

Despite their harsh climates, Antarctica and the Arctic have a variety of wildlife, most of which are unique to these areas. In the North, whales, walruses, polar bears, bearded seals and the Arctic Fox can be spotted, while in the South there are vast populations of penguins, seals, whales and the majestic Albatross.

The habitats of these species are sensitive ecosystems, and are closely monitored and studied by researchers. These environments are fragile, and are dramatically impacted by climate fluctuations, exposure to pollutants and some types of human activity. In support of their work to protect the ecology of these areas, Planeterra has partnered with research initiatives in both the Arctic and Antarctica.

Donate to Projects in Antarctica and the Arctic!

With your support we can help to further scientific research in the Polar regions, so that we can learn more about these sensitive ecosystems and habitats.
