Shalati Volunteer Extension

Spend three nights at Shalati Lodge, at the gate of the Manyeleti Game Reserve. Get involved with local community projects, including building and maintaining a pre-school - a particular need, due to a high proportion of single parent families, and orphans caused by HIV/AIDS.

Spend afternoons relaxing, playing with the kids, or on game drives in the reserve.

Day 1

 Johannesburg Shalati Lodge
Transfer from Johannesburg to Shalati Lodge, where we will spend the next 3 nights.  We will arrive late afternoon, check in, and relax around the pool before we head out for an open vehicle game drive.  Nothing compares to the exhilaration of an open air game drive in the famous big 5 areas of Africa.  The passionate and infectious guides will help you understand some of the mysteries of the bush.

Day 2 - 3

 Shalati Lodge
Over the next 2 days, you participate in a variety of activities that will assist the local community with their pre-school project, an exciting initiative.  We aim to assist the local community with their goal of developing a pre-school, so that children are provided with a secure and nurturing environment to learn and grow.  Travellers may help with the building and maintenance of this new project, and will also have free time to interact with the children.  Afternoons are at leisure, for relaxation and your choice of optional activities.

Day 4 Shalati Lodge

 Johannesburg
Rise early for a morning bush with an experience guide before our transfer back to Johannesburg.
